"A Visual History of Our Club: Tracing the Changes in Our Logo Over Time"

The club now known as the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Stockholm was initially called "The Diplomatic Wives’ Club of Stockholm" and was established in 1961 by the wives of diplomats in Sweden. Its members have since come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The name was later changed to the Diplomatic Women's Club, and eventually to the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Stockholm, to reflect the fact that the club had expanded to include men and partners of diplomats.

The first logo of the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Stockholm, designed maybe in 1961, depicts two hands holding a globe with four figures, which may be feminine, depicted on it.  The hands represent the sense of camaraderie and support among the members of the club, while the globe symbolizes the international reach and diversity of its members. The four figures on the globe represent the spouses of diplomats, further highlighting the club’s feminine nature and international character

In 2021, the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Stockholm celebrated its 60th anniversary since its founding. To mark this milestone, the club updated its logo to include the number 60, along with the text «1961-2021 Diplomatic Spouses Club, Stockholm» to signify the club’s founding year and location. Under the direction of the club’s president at the time, Reem Maguid, member of the club, Cristina Plaza created this updated logo features the previous logo's rounded shape, which now resembles the number 0. The number 0 is placed after the number 6 to represent 60 years, and the text "1961-2021 Diplomatic spouses club, Stockholm" is included to indicate the club's founding year and location. This updated logo honors the club's longstanding history and highlights its commitment to promoting cultural exchange and friendship among diplomatic communities for over six decades

OUR LOGO EVOLUTON

The new logo of the club, designed by Carolina Borgia, a talented member from Uruguay, has a modern and eye-catching design that incorporates the iconic town hall of Stockholm, a beloved landmark in the city and is the venue of the Nobel Prize banquet on 10 December every year. What makes the logo truly unique, however, is its clever use of the colors of the Swedish flag, which consist of a striking blue background and a vibrant gold or yellow Nordic cross. These colors have deep historical roots and are the traditional colors of the nation, imbuing the logo with a sense of national pride and identity. By seamlessly blending modern design with national heritage, the logo captures the essence of the club's spirit and mission

In addition to the main logo, the new design also includes a logo icon or symbol, which is a simplified version of the full logo. The logo mark is intended for use in situations where a smaller or more simplified logo is required, such as on social media profiles or mobile apps. The evolution of the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Stockholm’s logo reflects the club’s history and mission to foster cultural exchange and friendship among diplomatic communities. The original logo emphasized the international and feminine nature of the club, while the updated design honors the club’s six-decade history. The new logo, designed by a club member, represents the club’s ongoing commitment to promoting international relationships and cultural exchange.
